What is sleep apnea?
Obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is characterized by repetitive episodes of airflow reduction (hypopnea) or cessation (apnea) due to upper airway collapse during sleep lasting for a minimum period of 10 seconds. At least one in 20 adults suffers from sleep apnea. It’s as common as diabetes and high blood pressure (hypertension).
Possible consequences of (non-treated) sleep apnea
- Hypertension and heart disease
- Type 2 diabetes
- Preoperative and postoperative complications
- Can contribute to road/machinery related accidents as well
Diagnostic testing (medical prescription required)
Our experts provide you with a sleep test, at home, to determine if you have sleep apnea. This very simple diagnostic test allows you to sleep in the comfort of your own home. The use of cutting-edge technology provides us with precise results in order to acquire a better diagnosis.
You will be prescribed a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment. Snoring and apnea are controlled by keeping the upper respiratory airways open during all sleep cycles. However, this is a treatment, not a cure. If you stop using your CAP (Continuous Positive Pressure) device, your sleep apnea will resume where it left off. To consult our Product page, click here.
A follow-up with our experts assures optimal and concrete results.
Begin by consulting with your doctor if you have sleep apnea and think that you would benefit from a CPAP treatment.
