Foot

Plantar Fasciitis (heel spur, heel pain)

Symptoms :

Pain under the heel and chronic fascia inflammation.

Solutions :

  • Moulded analgesic orthotics controlling the pronation and internal rotation of the leg or the varus forefront of the foot with a diminution of pressure under the heel.

Hyper-Pronation of the foot (Valgus or flat foot, or hallux valgus)

Symptoms :

Deviation of the achillo-calcaneal axis, ankle bone detachment, deviation of the first metacarpo-phalangeal ray accompanied by a prominent calcified cavity at the base of the big toe.

Solutions :

  • Semi-rigid moulded orthotics controlling pronation and diminution of the angulations of the first metacarpo-phalangeal.
  • Adapted shoes.
  • Children : arch support or shoes with flexible leather soles.

Creviced foot (pes cavus)

Symptoms :

Overly arched foot with calluses or deviation of the foot.

Solutions :

  • Lightweight moulded support to distribute weight under the foot.
  • Adapted shoes.
  • Children : arch support and metatarsal support (moulded or customized).

Forefoot varus (deviated foot)

Symptoms :

Can create valgus calcaneus, apparent during weight bearing, will disappear during oscillation.

Solutions :

  • Molded support with a level to compensate the forfoot and restore functionnality.
  • Children: Thomas Heel, external level, insole, scaphoïd support.

Metatarsalgia

Symptoms :

Callus or Morton neuroma. Solid mass with pain under the metatarsal heads or loss of sensitivity to the toes (pain between the 3rd and 4th metatarsus).

Solutions :

  • Support with a metatarsal or reverse release to give arch support and space.

Ankle sprain (ligament)

This happens when the ankle's ligaments are damaged. The resulting lesion can go from a simple stretch to a complete rupture. The ligaments link up with bones allowing the articulation to be kept in place.

Retour vers le haut Top of page

Achilles tendonitis

Symptoms :

Inflammation of the tissues enveloping the tendon, as well as heel, ankle and lower leg pain, caused by sudden or repeated stretching of the tendon in abnormal conditions.

Solutions :

  • Orthotics to correct the biomechanics, reduce activity, elevate the heel and offer supination bevel.
Retour vers le haut Top of page
Anterior compartment syndrome

Symptoms :

Lateral pain, inflammation of the extensor tendons of the toes and inner leg due to changes in walking or jogging routine or walking or jogging with soles that are too flexible or varus feet.

Solutions :

  • Moulded orthotics with support to the hind foot varus.
  • Shoe with a cradle for greater toe extension.

Periostitis (shin splint)

Symptoms :

Muscular tenderness and contraction.

Solutions :

  • Support with a metatarsal or reversed release latch to allow proper space for the arch.

Sprain

Symptoms :

Traumatic lesion of an articulation with an elongation, pull out or a laceration without displacement of the joint's surface and without luxation caused by a torsion or an abrupt elongation.

Retour vers le haut Top of page
Malleolus fracture

Symptoms :

Fracture of the malleolus, voluminous extension of the tibia (internal malleolus) and the fibula (external malleolus) protruding at the ankle's level.

Knee

Femoro-patellar syndrome

Symptoms :

Pain around and under the patella augmenting when climbing or jogging - Muscular imbalance; hyper-pronation of the foot; misalignment ( angle superior to 20 degrees).

Solutions :

  • Moulded orthoses to correct the pronation and support the forefoot.

Triad

LeThe medial collateral ligament runs along the inside of the knee, connecting the femur to the tibia, providing stability to the knee joint.

Injury is mainly caused by an internal tibia rotation or a sudden impact to the outside of the knee.

Osteoarthritis

Cartilaginous articulation degenerative disease.

Term essentially used to refer to an infections arthritis whose lesions have spread to adjacent zones.

Meniscus tear

Symptoms :

Laceration related to an articulated meniscus.

Varum Valgum

Genu varum (also called bow-leggedness or bandiness), is a deformity marked by medial angulation of the leg in relation to the thigh, an outward bowing of the legs, giving the appearance of a bow.  Usually there is an outward curvature of both the femur and tibia.

Genu valgum, commonly called "knock-knees", is a condition where the knees angle in and touch one another when the legs are straightened.

Back

Herniated disk

Symptoms :

Low back pain - Sciatic nerve pain or crural neuralgia - Stiffness accompanied by pain irradiating in the leg.

Solutions :

  • LomboSpine orthosis

Lumbago

Symptoms :

Painful affection of the lumbar area happening suddenly following an effort caracterized by a sharp pain as well as a blocking sensation usually related to a disc lesion and that heals normally in a few days.

Facet syndrome

Facet syndrome is a low back pain syndrome attributed to osteoarthritis of the interarticular vertebrae; clinical low back pain that increases on extension, irradiates to the posterior thigh, and ends at the knee.

Retour vers le haut Top of page
Sacroiliac joint syndrome

Symptoms :

The sacroiliac joints are located at the bottom of the back and are semi rigid.  This rigidity supports the upper body weight, allowing proper distribution of the weight on both legs.  The sacroiliac joints help make up the rear part of the pelvic girdle and sit between the sacrum and the ilia. These joints can often get stuck or in some cases one half of the pelvis can glide forwards or backwards causing a greater production of fibrous tissue.

Symptoms:  dull ache around the dimple or posterior superior iliac spine region.

Spondylitis

Degeneration of the spinal column, especially a fusion and immobilization of the vertebral bones.

Symptoms: stiffness and pain in the morning affecting the sacroiliac joint area and spine.

Retour vers le haut Top of page
Spondylolysthesis

Front sliding of a vertebra against the underlying vertebra which mostly reach the two last lumbar vertebras. Usually precede the spondylitis.

Retour vers le haut Top of page

Arm

Epicondylitis

Symptoms :

Inflammation of the epicondylitis of the inserted tendons that may affect the surrounding tissus.

Retour vers le haut Top of page
Carpal tunnel

The carpal tunnel is the space between this sheath (above) and the bones (below) making up the wrist and hand.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a medical condition in which the median is compressed at the wrist, leading to paresthesias, numbness and muscle weakness in the hand.

Symptoms:  numbness and a burning and tingling sensation in the thumb, index, and middle fingers.

De Quervain’s disease

De Quervain syndrome is an inflammation or a tendinosis of the sheath or tunnel that surrounds two tendons that control the movement of the thumb.

Symptoms:  pain, tenderness, and swelling over the thumb side of the wrist, and difficulty gripping.

Head and Neck

Post-Traumatic cervical syndrome

A syndrome of neck pain, tenderness, and spasm, often associated with ill-defined symptoms (dizziness, blurred vision), resulting from neck trauma, most often of the whiplash variety.

Retour vers le haut Top of page

Torticollis and cervical spasm

Symptoms :

Torticollis, or wry neck, is a condition in which the head is tilted toward one side, and the chin is elevated and turned toward the opposite side. A neck spasm is an involuntary contraction of the muscles in the neck region.

Whiplash

Whiplash is commonly associated with a motor vehicle accident usually when the vehicle has been hit in the rear.  A whiplash injury may also be the result of impulsive stretching of the spine, mainly the ligament: anterior longitudinal ligament which is stretched or tears, as the head snaps forward and then back again.

Symptoms: pain and aching to the neck and back, referred pain to the shoulders, sensory disturbance (such as pins and needles) to the arms & legs and headaches.
